ABOUT US

A place to call home

Home: a place natural or dear to one because of personal relationships or feelings of comfort and security. A peaceful or restful place; a refuge; a haven…

Lifestyle Equity Society is a non-profit organization, which came into being on February 1, 1993, formed by a group who saw the world differently than most and heeded the words of Margaret Mead.

“Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”

— Margaret Mead

Our Mission

Loving Homes, Fulfilling Lives.

We support people who live with challenges to lead full, included lives — built around their needs, dreams, and aspirations.

Our Vision

Inclusion in all walks of life.

Lifestyle Equity Society will actively advocate inclusion and work towards enhancing the dignity and quality of life for the people we support.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our Values

The principles that guide every relationship and every home we support.

01

All people have the right to participate in and contribute to their community.

02

Personal empowerment and self-determination are best achieved when we value all people as individuals with unique personalities.

03

All people benefit from an environment that stimulates curiosity, is challenging, and provides learning opportunities.

04

All people benefit from exposure to a reasonable level of risk — allowing for failures and encouraging meaningful successes.

05

The individual is the center of the system and determines, with or without assistance, their personal goals and the support required.

06

Family involvement is highly valued and encouraged in the design, operation, and monitoring of services.

07

Social relationships and ongoing friendships are the foundation of community living.

08

People best acquire the skills they need through participation in natural environments.

09

We are committed to hiring and supporting competent staff who believe in these values to ensure quality interactions.

“Social relationships and ongoing friendships
are the foundation of community living.”
